Cyprus Sea Area Weather Forecast Highlights Low Pressure Impact

Nicosia: The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has issued a weather forecast for the sea area surrounding Cyprus, indicating that low pressure is currently affecting the region. Despite this, the weather is expected to remain mainly fine, with good visibility reported. The sea surface temperature is recorded at 20°C, and no warnings have been issued for this period.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the forecast details the expected weather conditions across different coastal areas of Cyprus from the afternoon of December 29, 2025, to the morning of December 30, 2025. On the west coast, the afternoon will see northwest to north winds ranging from 4 to 5, occasionally reaching 5 to 6, with the sea state being moderate, sometimes shifting to moderate to rough. By night, winds will moderate to a northwest to north direction at 4, with the sea becoming slight to moderate. The morning period will bring variable winds at 3, later shifting to south to southwest at 3 to 4, with a slight to moderate sea state.

The south coast will experience northwest to north winds at 4, occasionally reaching 4 to 5 in the afternoon, with a slight to moderate sea state. During the night, winds will vary from northwest to northeast at 3 to 4, gradually reducing to 3 near the coast, resulting in a slight to smooth sea state near the coast. The morning will see winds shifting from southwest to northwest at 3 to 4, with the sea remaining slight, near the coast becoming smooth to slight.

For the east coast, afternoon winds will be northwest to north at 4, occasionally increasing to 4 to 5, with a slight to moderate sea state. At night, winds will vary from northwest to northeast at 4 to 5, later changing to west to northwest at 3, with the sea state initially slight to moderate, later becoming slight. The morning will bring southwest to northwest winds at 3 to 4, with a sea state starting slight and transitioning to smooth to slight.

On the north coast, afternoon conditions will feature northwest to north winds at 4 to 5, occasionally reaching 5, with a moderate sea state, sometimes locally moderate to rough. By night, winds will moderate to northwest to north at 4, gradually shifting to southwest to northwest at 3 to 4, with the sea state moving from moderate to slight to moderate. The morning will see southwest to west winds at 3 to 4, with the sea initially slight to moderate, later becoming slight.
