Nicosia: The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has issued its forecast for the sea area of Cyprus, indicating predominantly fine weather conditions for the period from 1800 on May 11, 2026, to 1800 on May 12, 2026. A weak high-pressure system is currently affecting the area, bringing mainly clear skies with the possibility of increased low cloud coverage over the eastern regions.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the forecast notes that visibility is expected to remain good throughout the period, and the sea surface temperature is recorded at 20°C. Importantly, there are no warnings issued for this period, suggesting calm sea conditions overall.
For the west coast, winds are expected to vary from northwest to northeast during the night, gradually shifting to an east to southeast direction by morning, and then to a southeast to south direction by afternoon. The state of the sea is forecasted to be smooth to slight.
On the south coast, winds will blow from the south to southwest during the night, with a smooth to slight state of the sea. As the day progresses, the direction will change to southwest to west by morning and then to southeast to southwest by afternoon.
The east coast will experience southwest to northwest winds at night, transitioning to southeast to southwest in the morning, and eventually southeast to southwest in the afternoon. The sea conditions will remain smooth to slight.
Finally, the north coast is expected to have southeast to southwest winds at night, with a shift to northwest to northeast by morning. In the afternoon, the winds will change to northwest to northeast, later turning southwest to northwest, maintaining a smooth to slight sea state throughout.
