Cyprus Sea Area to Experience Mainly Fine Weather with Smooth to Slight Seas

Nicosia: The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has released its forecast for the sea area surrounding Cyprus, covering a period from 0600 on January 15, 2026, until 0600 on January 16, 2026. The forecast indicates that a weak high-pressure system is currently influencing the area, resulting in mainly fine weather conditions.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the atmospheric pressure at the time of the forecast issuance was recorded at 1024 hPa. The visibility is expected to remain good throughout the forecast period, and the sea surface temperature is noted to be 19°C. The forecast specifies no warnings for the area.

The sea conditions around the island are predicted to be smooth to slight, with wind speeds measured on the Beaufort scale. On the West Coast, winds in the morning are expected to be northeast at force 3, shifting to west to northwest in the afternoon, with some local variations; by night, the winds will return to northeast at force 3. The South Coast will experience northwest to northeast winds in the morning, with variable directions in some areas, smoothing to southeast to southwest winds in the afternoon, and northwest winds at night. On the East Coast, wind directions will vary from west to northwest in the morning to variable in the afternoon and night. Lastly, the North Coast will see northwest winds in the morning, transitioning to west to northwest in the afternoon, and variable directions at night.
