Cyprus Sea Area Forecast: Clear Skies and Calm Waters Expected

Nicosia: The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has issued its forecast for the sea area surrounding Cyprus for the period from 1200 on August 20, 2026, until 1200 on August 21, 2026. The forecast covers an area extending 8 kilometers seawards and predicts mostly clear weather conditions influenced by a seasonal low-pressure system.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the atmospheric pressure at the time of the forecast's issuance was 1012 hPa. Despite the low-pressure system affecting the area, the visibility is expected to remain good, with sea surface temperatures around 29°C. No warnings have been issued for this period, indicating stable maritime conditions.

The forecast details varying wind patterns across different coastal areas. On the West Coast, winds will shift from west to northwest, with slight sea conditions expected throughout the afternoon and night. The South Coast will experience smooth to slight sea conditions with winds transitioning from south to southwest during the afternoon and shifting westward by morning.

The East Coast will also see smooth to slight seas with gentle winds ranging from south to southwest during the afternoon and shifting to northeast to southeast by morning. Meanwhile, the North Coast will have slightly variable conditions with smooth to slight seas and winds moving from west to northwest, gradually shifting near the coast by morning.

Overall, the Cyprus Department of Meteorology predicts a calm period for seafarers and coastal activities, with no significant disturbances expected in the sea area during the forecasted period.
