Cyprus Records Marginal Deflation of 0.1% in August According to Eurostat Estimates

Nicosia: Cyprus recorded a marginal deflation of 0.1% in August, according to Eurostat flash estimate.

According to Cyprus News Agency, Cyprus is the only euro area member state that recorded negative inflation in August. Euro area annual inflation is estimated at 2.1% in August, up from 2% in July.

The largest inflation rate was recorded in Estonia, with 6.2%.

Looking at the main components of euro area inflation, food, alcohol, and tobacco is expected to have the highest annual rate in August (3.2%, compared with 3.3% in July), followed by services (3.1%, compared with 3.2% in July), non-energy industrial goods (0.8%, stable compared with July) and energy (-1.9%, compared with -2.4% in July).
