Cyprus ready to launch Gaza aid initiative when conditions allow, says Spokesman

The Republic of Cyprus is ready to activate its initiative for humanitarian aid to Gaza as soon as conditions permit, according to Government Spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis.

Following the conclusion of a Cabinet meeting, in Nicosia, Letymbiotis was asked if Cyprus’s initiative – as the President stated – is ready to operate as of today. As he said the initiative, before being presented to EU countries, as well as other regional states and international organisations, had reached a stage where planning could ensure implementation as soon as conditions allowed.

“This holds true today. Such planning has been developed, taking into account all the data and considering different scenarios regarding the prevailing conditions. We refer to short-term, medium-term, and long-term scenarios for the implementation of the initiative,” he noted.

He added that as soon as conditions permit, the implementation of the initiative could be put into effect.

The Republic of Cyprus has been actively working on a comprehens
ive plan to open a maritime corridor to help deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza.
