Cyprus President to Attend ICS General Assembly in Athens

Athens: The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, departs for Athens on Thursday to attend the annual General Assembly of the International Chamber of Shipping. During this event, he will deliver a greeting and witness the swearing-in ceremony of the new Secretary General, Thomas Kazakos.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the President, accompanied by Deputy Minister of Shipping Marina Hadjimanoli, will engage in meetings with international shipping industry officials as part of the Assembly. Additionally, President Christodoulides is set to attend an event organized in his honor by the Pontian Association of Glyfada and will be declared an honorary citizen of the Municipality of Argyroupoli-Elliniko.

On the following day, the President will travel to Kavala to participate in an event organized by ETYK and the Municipality of Nesto in Keramoti, alongside Greek government officials and local authorities. He will unveil a monument dedicated to Greek soldiers who served in Cyprus and attend the burial ceremony of Charalambos Samliam. Prior to these events, a brief visit to the Nesto Town Hall for a meeting with local officials is planned.

The President’s delegation includes Deputy Government Spokesperson Yiannis Antoniou and civil service officials. They are scheduled to return to Cyprus on Friday afternoon.
