Nicosia: Ukraine’s sovereignty must be fully respected, President Nikos Christodoulides stated, asserting that no one can impose any solution to the ongoing crisis. The President made these remarks when asked about the implications of proposed solutions for the Ukrainian crisis on the Cyprus issue.
According to Cyprus News Agency, President Christodoulides expressed satisfaction with the recent developments following a meeting in Geneva between delegations from the United States and Ukraine. He emphasized that the discussions underscored the importance of respecting Ukraine’s sovereignty. The President also mentioned that a videoconference was held at the EU level, expressing hope for a cooperative solution with both Ukraine and the United States that would be acceptable to Kiev.
The President reiterated that solutions should not be imposed, reflecting Cyprus’ own experiences and emphasizing a diplomatic approach. When questioned about Cyprus’ energy development plans ahead of his visit to Lebanon, President Christodoulides mentioned an upcoming important meeting with his Lebanese counterpart. He indicated that specific announcements would be made during his visit to Beirut.
