Budapest: Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides is travelling to Budapest on Thursday to participate in the European Political Community Summit and the informal European Council. In a written statement, Deputy Government Spokesperson Yiannis Antoniou announced that President Christodoulides, accompanied by Deputy Minister of European Affairs Marilena Rauna, Antoniou, and other officials, will engage in the 5th Meeting of the leaders of the European Political Community.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the summit will host heads of states from the European Political Community, alongside leaders from EU institutions, NATO, the OSCE, and the Council of Europe. Discussions are set to focus on Europe’s economic security and migration, with President Christodoulides expected to deliver a statement on these matters.
On the sidelines of the summit, President Christodoulides plans to hold bilateral meetings with various heads of state or government. In the evening, he will attend a dinner with EU member state lead
ers at the Hungarian parliament, part of the informal European Council. The dinner will center around EU-US relations, regional developments, and the current situation in the Middle East.
The informal European Council will continue on Friday, where leaders will deliberate on the future of European competitiveness, drawing insights from the Leta and Draghi reports. The President is scheduled to return to Cyprus on Friday evening.
