Nicosia: An individual, believed to be involved in terrorism-related offences, was arrested on Saturday in Cyprus and is being held in custody for eight days.
According to Cyprus News Agency, a police press release indicated that the individual, allegedly involved in terrorism offenses, was apprehended following a coordinated operation by the Police headquarters Crime Investigation Department.
The suspect appeared before a District Court in the morning, where an 8-day remand order was issued against him for crimes including, among others, terrorism and espionage.
The Police noted that, for reasons of national security, no further statements will be made, and that the investigation continues.
