Cyprus on Monday recorded three deaths and 2,254 new COVID-19 cases, while 204 patients are being treated in hospital.
The deaths concern a woman, 82, and a man, 84, who died on Sunday and a 91-year-old woman who died on Monday. This brings the total number of deaths from COVID-19 to 980.
According to the Health Ministry, 204 patients are being treated in hospital, including 29 who are in serious condition: nine who are in intensive care units, including five who are intubated and 20 in high-dependency units. The Ministry said that 56.87% of patients are not vaccinated.
The new cases were detected among 83,217 tests – 3,685 PCR and 79,532 rapid tests – with a positivity rate of 2.71%. Fourteen cases were detected during contact tracing, 1,478 through testing on private initiative, and 714 cases through the rapid testing programme offered on behalf of the Health Ministry. These concern 497 cases that were detected during testing at the testing sites, 71 in primary schools, 40 in high schools, 37 cases detected as part of the test-to-stay measure, and five in special schools. Another 55 cases were detected in nursing homes and four in closed structures.
The Health Ministry clarifies that the figures mentioned in the daily announcements are indicative and may vary based on the updated data released every other Friday in the National Epidemiological Risk Report.
