BAKU: Cypriot Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment Maria Panayiotou, has travelled to Baku, Azerbaijan, to participate in the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the Minister’s visit follows the participation of Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides in the Leaders’ Summit held on November 12. During the summit, the President outlined Cyprus’ positions and actions to address climate change impacts, emphasizing the country’s key regional role in fostering climate action collaborations.
While in Baku, Panayiotou will attend a high-level working group of EU Ministers on Friday, November 22, focusing on coordinating and finalizing the European Union’s common climate policy positions. She will also participate in the conference’s closing ceremony.
The Minister is scheduled to return to Cyprus on Saturday.
