Nicosia: The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has released its forecast for the sea area surrounding Cyprus, covering up to 8 kilometers seawards, effective from 1200 on September 19, 2026, until 1200 on September 20, 2026. The forecast indicates that a weak low-pressure system is currently affecting the area. While the weather will be predominantly fine, there will be instances of increased cloud coverage.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the atmospheric pressure at the time of the forecast issuance was recorded at 1015 hPa. The visibility in the area is expected to remain good, and the sea surface temperature is at 28°C. Importantly, no warnings have been issued for the period.

The forecast details the wind conditions and state of the sea across different coasts of Cyprus. On the west coast, winds will vary from west to northwest at Beaufort scale 3 to 4 in the afternoon, with a slight state of the sea, gradually turning smooth to slight by night. A similar pattern is expected in the morning with winds shifting from northwest to northeast and later to southwest to west.

For the south coast, winds will range from south to southwest at Beaufort scale 4, gradually increasing to 5 locally, with the sea remaining smooth to slight. By night, the wind direction will shift to southwest to northwest, maintaining a smooth to slight sea state. Morning conditions will see winds from northwest to northeast, later turning south to southwest.

The east coast will experience afternoon winds from south to southwest at scale 4, increasing to 5 locally, with the sea remaining smooth to slight. By night, winds will transition to the west to northwest at scale 3 to 4. Morning conditions will see a shift from west to northwest, later turning south to southwest.

On the north coast, afternoon winds will range from southwest to northwest at scale 3 to 4, with the sea state varying from smooth to slight. At night, winds will shift from southwest to west, gradually becoming southeast to southwest. The morning will see a further transition from southeast to southwest, turning southwest to northwest by the end of the forecast period, with a smooth to slight sea state expected throughout.
