Cyprus Meteorology Department Predicts Calm Seas Around Island

Nicosia: The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has released its forecast for the sea area surrounding Cyprus for the period from 1800 on January 14, 2026, to 1800 on January 15, 2026. The forecast covers an area extending 8 kilometers seawards from the coast. Current atmospheric pressure stands at 1021 hPa, and a weak high-pressure system is influencing the region. The weather is expected to be mainly fine, with good visibility, and sea surface temperatures are at 19°C. No warnings have been issued for the period.

According to Cyprus News Agency, wind conditions across different coastal areas vary but remain relatively calm. On the west coast, winds from the northwest to northeast are expected to remain at Beaufort scale 3 to 4 during the night, decreasing to scale 3 by morning, with sea conditions shifting from slight to moderate to smooth to slight. The south coast will experience similar wind patterns, with variable winds at times, maintaining a smooth to slight state of the sea throughout the day.

The east coast will see winds from the west to northwest at scale 3, occasionally reaching scale 4 offshore during the night, with the sea remaining smooth to slight. Meanwhile, the north coast will experience southwest to northwest winds at scale 3 to 4, gradually decreasing to scale 3, with sea conditions improving from slight to moderate to smooth to slight as the day progresses.
