Cyprus Meteorology Department Issues Sea Area Forecast with Seasonal Low Pressure

Nicosia: The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has released its forecast for the sea area surrounding Cyprus, effective from 1200 on September 2, 2026, until 1200 on September 3, 2026. The forecast covers an area 8 kilometers seawards and reports that seasonal low pressure is currently affecting the region. The atmospheric pressure at the time of issue is recorded at 1010 hPa. The weather is expected to remain mainly fine, although there is a risk of increased low cloud coverage overnight and during the morning.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the visibility in the area is good, and the sea surface temperature is 29°C. No warnings have been issued. The forecast details the expected wind conditions and sea state across the different coasts of Cyprus. On the West Coast, winds will vary from southwest to northwest in the afternoon and are expected to be smooth to slight. Overnight, the wind will shift from northwest to northeast, and by morning, it will gradually move from southwest to west.

Similarly, on the South Coast, winds in the afternoon will range from southeast to southwest, becoming locally south to southwest. The night will see winds shifting from southwest to northwest, eventually becoming variable by morning. The East and North Coasts will experience similar patterns of wind variation, with the sea state remaining smooth to slight throughout the forecast period.
