Cyprus Marine Weather Forecast Highlights Smooth Sea Conditions

Nicosia: The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has issued its forecast for the sea area of Cyprus, expecting mainly fine weather conditions throughout September 17, 2025. The forecast covers an area extending 8 kilometers seawards and highlights that the region is under the influence of seasonal low pressure with an atmospheric pressure reading of 1009 hPa. While the weather is predicted to be predominantly clear, there is a likelihood of low cloud and local mist during the night.

According to Cyprus News Agency, winds across the sea area are expected to vary throughout the day, measured on the Beaufort scale. The forecast details specific changes in wind direction and intensity across the west, south, east, and north coasts of Cyprus. For the west coast, nighttime winds will blow from northwest to northeast at force 3, shifting to southeast to southwest in the morning and later south to southwest at force 3 to 4. During the afternoon, winds will transition from southwest to west, locally intensifying from west to northwest, maintaining a smooth to slight sea state.

The south coast will experience southwest to northwest winds at force 3 during the night. By morning, these will become southeast to southwest, gradually turning south to southwest at force 3 to 4. In the afternoon, winds will change to southwest to west at force 3 to 4, locally reaching 4 to 5, with the sea remaining smooth to slight.

For the east coast, winds are forecasted to be southwest to northwest at force 3 during the night, switching to southeast to southwest by morning and later south to southwest at force 3 to 4 in the afternoon. The sea condition is expected to remain smooth to slight throughout the period.

On the north coast, winds will start from southeast to southwest at force 3 during the night, transitioning to southwest to northwest by morning and reaching force 3 to 4 in the afternoon. Tonight, winds will shift to southeast to southwest, with offshore winds from southwest to west at force 3 to 4, maintaining a smooth to slight sea state, with slight conditions offshore.

The sea surface temperature remains at 28°C, and no weather warnings have been issued for the period, indicating favorable conditions for marine activities in the region.
