Nicosia:The share of people in Cyprus unable to afford regular participation in leisure activities decreased to 6.3% in 2025, down from 8.7% in 2024, according to data released by Eurostat.
According to Cyprus News Agency, this rate was below the European Union average of 12.1% in 2025. Among EU member states, Croatia had the lowest rate at 3.9%, while Greece had the highest at 27.3%.
Regarding the ability to afford a meal with meat, chicken, fish, or a vegetarian equivalent every second day, Cyprus reported the lowest rate in the EU at 1.2%, which remained unchanged from 2024. The EU average was 8.5%, with Romania experiencing the highest rate at 18.1%.
Additionally, the percentage of people in Cyprus unable to afford an internet connection for personal use at home was notably low, standing at 0.2% in 2025, a slight decrease from 0.3% in 2024. The EU average for this measure was 2.0%, with Finland recording the lowest rate at 0.1% and Romania the highest at 6.2%.
