Nicosia: The top five teams of the Cyprus football League achieved victories in the framework of Match Day 23 of the Cyprus League by Stoiximan. As a result, the top of the standings remained unchanged.
According to Cyprus News Agency, Pafos secured an important victory over Apollon on Sunday with a narrow 1-0 win, maintaining their position at the top of the standings. The difference between Pafos and second-placed Aris, who defeated Anorthosis 3-0 on Saturday at the ‘Antonis Papadopoulos’ Stadium, remains at six points.
Third-placed Omonia and fourth-placed AEK also continued their successful campaigns with wins. Omonia defeated Omonia Aradippou 3-1 at the GSP on Sunday, while AEK triumphed over Paralimni with a 4-1 victory on Friday. Additionally, APOEL secured a crucial victory over AEL at Alphamega Stadium on Sunday, ensuring their fifth-place position, five points ahead of both Apollon and Anorthosis.
The results of Match Day 23 were as follows: Nea Salamina defeated Karmiotissa 2-1, AEK overcame Paralimni 4-1, Ethnikos won against Omonia 29M 1-0, Aris triumphed over Anorthosis 3-0, Omonia bested Omonia Aradippou 3-1, Pafos FC beat Apollon 1-0, and AEL lost to APOEL 2-1.
The current standings after these matches are: Pafos FC leading with 58 points, followed by Aris with 52, Omonia and AEK both with 48 points, APOEL at 40, and Apollon and Anorthosis tied with 35 points each. Ethnikos holds 27 points, AEL and Karmiotissa are both at 21, Omonia Aradippou has 19, ENP stands at 18, Nea Salamina has 16, and Omonia 29M rounds out the standings with 10 points.
