Cyprus League Matchday 8 Sees Omonoia Nicosia FC Climb to the Top

Nicosia: Omonoia Nicosia FC secured a victory over Pafos FC while AEK and APOEL had a draw in the games that concluded on Monday evening, marking the end of the 8th matchday of the Cyprus League by Stoiximan.

According to Cyprus News Agency, Omonoia achieved a 2-1 victory against Pafos at GSP Stadium. Willy Semedo was the hero for Omonoia, netting goals at 64 minutes and during added time at 90’+4′. Pafos initially took the lead with Vlad Dragomir’s goal in the 14th minute, but it wasn’t enough to secure the win.

In another match, AEK Larnaka and APOEL ended their game in a 1-1 draw. APOEL’s Pieros Soteriou scored at the 25th minute, while AEK Larnaka’s Enric Saborit equalized at the 49th minute. This result led to changes in the league standings.

With this victory, Omonoia Nicosia rose to the top of the standings with 19 points, surpassing Pafos FC, which dropped to second place with 18 points. AEK Larnaka improved their position from 6th to 5th place with 14 points, and APOEL climbed from 4th to 3rd place with a total of 17 points.

Other results from the weekend’s games include Akritas Chlorakas losing to Omonoia Aradippou 0-1, Anorthosis drawing with Aris 1-1, AEL defeating Freedom24-Krasava 1-0, Ethnikos Achnas securing a significant 5-1 win over Paralimni, and Olympiakos Nicosia drawing 2-2 with Apollonas.
