Cyprus House President expresses appreciation for Egypt’s support

Cyprus House President, Annita Demetriou, expressed on Wednesday her sincere appreciation for the position of principles and the steadfast support of Egypt to the efforts for a Cyprus settlement, particularly in light of the escalating Turkish provocations in the fenced off area of Famagusta.

According to a House press release, Demetriou who met with the Ambassador of Egypt to Cyprus, Amr Mohsen Hamza, also underlined that the Republic of Cyprus has the inalienable right to exercise its sovereign rights within its Exclusive Economic Zone, according to the international law.

During the meeting, the House President and the Egyptian Ambassador commended the historic friendly relations and the important impetus given to the cooperation between the two countries, particularly most recently with the first Intergovernmental Summit between Cyprus and Egypt.
