Nicosia: Government Spokesperson, Konstantinos Letymbiotis, addressed concerns regarding a video circulating on social media that alleges illegal financing during President Christodoulides' campaign. Letymbiotis described the situation as a case of "hybrid activity" against the Republic of Cyprus in a written statement released Thursday evening. The video is said to contain misleading claims and arbitrary conclusions aimed at tarnishing the government's image.
According to Cyprus News Agency, further investigations have been initiated, with both the Attorney General and the Chief of Police being informed of the situation. The Spokesperson noted that the video is considered malicious and a product of editing, designed to mislead and harm the country's reputation.
In response to the video's allegations, former Energy Minister George Lakkotrypis, who is featured in the video, has lodged a complaint with the Nicosia CID. The issue has also elicited reactions from various political parties, highlighting the video's impact on Cyprus's political landscape.
