_:The 2027 state budget of Cyprus was submitted to the House of Representatives by Finance Minister Makis Keravnos, who presented it to House President Annita Demetriou. The budget is expected to generate surpluses, ensure growth, and reduce public debt.

According to Cyprus News Agency, Finance Minister Keravnos highlighted that the budget has been crafted amidst challenging geopolitical conditions and aims to safeguard the economy and society. He mentioned that the budget includes increased development spending, is people-centered, and targets maintaining a growth rate of around 2.9%.

House President Demetriou welcomed the budget's presentation, emphasizing the importance of cooperation and the need to ensure the budget meets the citizens' expectations. She underscored the necessity of fiscal discipline during this difficult period marked by external crises.

Keravnos expressed confidence in the continued cooperation with the House to finalize the budget, which is anticipated to decrease public debt to 45.6%, thus creating more fiscal space for citizen benefits. He assured that the government is ready to implement additional social measures if necessary and mentioned the allocation of 25 million euros annually for the Great Sea Interconnector project.
