Cyprus EU Presidency Committed to Completing Current Initiatives, Minister Asserts

Brussels: Minister of Labor and Social Insurance Marinos Moushouttas has conveyed the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU's determination to ensure the successful completion of current initiatives.

According to Cyprus News Agency, Moushouttas, during a working visit to Brussels, affirmed to the rapporteurs of the European Parliament that the Cyprus EU Presidency intends to act as an honest and impartial mediator among member states and EU institutions. The goal is to facilitate balanced and sustainable compromises.

The Cyprus Presidency is focused on strengthening the social pillar of the EU, with particular attention to worker protection, quality job creation, and adapting the labor market to evolving economic and technological challenges, the Minister emphasized, as per a press release from the Ministry.

Moushouttas highlighted the importance of quality job creation and the promotion of fair employment and worker mobility, noting these as fundamental aspects of European social policy. These efforts aim to enhance social justice, cohesion, and inclusive sustainable development.

During his visit, the Minister engaged in a series of meetings with European Parliament rapporteurs concerning legislative dossiers under negotiation. He also met with David Brozina, Director-General of the Directorate-General for Employment and Social Affairs of the General Secretariat of the Council of the EU.
