Nicosia: The Ministry of Defence announced on Friday that it took delivery of a second Air Tractor AT-802 firefighting aircraft on 29 July 2026, as part of the Republic of Cyprus' efforts to strengthen its aerial firefighting capabilities.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the Ministry stated that the aircraft, owned by the Republic of Cyprus, was delivered under a contract providing for the procurement of a total of three Air Tractor AT-802 firefighting aircraft. The acquisition forms part of a broader plan to further expand the country's aerial firefighting fleet and enhance its operational capabilities, with the aim of improving the prevention and suppression of wildfires and limiting their spread.
The Ministry added that it remains committed to the strategic objective of strengthening the Republic's firefighting resources and operational capabilities.
