According to Cyprus News Agency, the seasonally adjusted growth rate of GDP stood at 3.3% in the second quarter of 2026, compared with the corresponding quarter of the previous year.

The positive growth rate was mainly driven by the sectors of wholesale and retail trade and repair of motor vehicles, information and communication, financial and insurance activities, and construction.

Compared with the previous quarter, GDP increased by 0.8%, following a 0.5% increase in the first quarter of 2026.

On an annual basis, the growth rate stood at 3.0% in the first quarter of 2026, compared with 4.2% in the fourth quarter of 2025, 3.5% in the third quarter and 3.7% in the second quarter of 2025.

The Statistical Service noted that the preliminary GDP estimate provides an initial picture of the growth of the Cypriot economy 45 days after the end of the quarter and is based on fewer available sources of information compared with the estimates of the Quarterly National Accounts, which are published two months after the end of the reference quarter.
