Brussels: A Cyprus Special Olympics Federation delegation will travel to Brussels on Tuesday, September 23, with a view to participate in celebrations for the European Special Olympics Day.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the two-day celebration will be attended by the National Director of the Cyprus Special Olympics Federation, Eleni Rossidou, board member and coach Pavlos Antoniades, and athlete Petros Papasozomenos.
As stated, the event will take place on September 24 and 25, at the European Parliament and will highlight the important role that Special Olympics play in promoting the inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities, in line with EU policies.
It is noted that as part of these events, the Cypriot delegation will meet with Cypriot MEPs in order to provide information about the Special Olympics institution, as well as the activities of the Cyprus Special Olympics Federation.
It is added that the two-day event, one of the most important activities celebrating the 10th anniversary of European Sports Week, will be attended by politicians and officials from the European Parliament and the European Commission, together with Special Olympics athletes – with and without intellectual disabilities – their families and other stakeholders, who will discuss how greater inclusion in sport, education, health, and international cooperation can be achieved.
