Cyprus Braces for Weak Low Pressure Impact on Coastal Areas

Nicosia: Cyprus is set to experience a period of weak low pressure affecting its coastal areas, as forecasted by the Cyprus Department of Meteorology. The forecast, which covers an area 8 kilometers seawards, indicates increased cloud coverage and a risk of isolated showers, particularly over the northern and western parts of the island during the night.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the atmospheric pressure at the time of the forecast issuance was recorded at 1018 hPa. The sea surface temperature remains at 18°C, with no significant warnings issued for the period. Visibility is expected to remain good, though it may reduce to moderate during showers.

On the west coast, winds in the morning will range from east to southeast at 3 to 4 Beaufort scale, locally increasing to 4 to 5. The sea state is expected to be slight. By the afternoon, winds will shift to southeast at 4 to 5, occasionally reaching 5 to 6 locally, with the sea becoming slight to moderate. At night, winds are predicted to transition from southeast to south at 4 to 5, gradually moving to west to northwest at 3 to 4, maintaining a slight to moderate sea state.

The south coast will experience morning winds from north to northeast at 3 to 4, shifting to east at 4, with the sea remaining slight. In the afternoon, winds will change from northeast to southeast at 3 to 4, locally increasing to 4 to 5, resulting in a slight to moderate sea state locally. Nighttime winds will vary from southeast to southwest at 3 to 4, with a gradual shift to west to northwest near the coast, keeping the sea slight.

For the east coast, morning winds will come from northeast to east at 3 to 4, with the sea being slight, occasionally slight to moderate. This pattern continues in the afternoon with east winds at 3 to 4. At night, winds will change to southeast to southwest at 3 to 4, maintaining a slight sea state.

The north coast will see morning winds from northeast to east at 3 to 4, locally increasing to 4 to 5, with a slight to moderate sea state. In the afternoon, winds will shift from northeast to southeast at 4 to 5, with the sea remaining slight to moderate near the coast. At night, winds will vary from southeast to south at 4 to 5, later transitioning to southwest to west at 3 to 4, keeping the sea slight to moderate.
