Cyprus Braces for Isolated Showers and Thunderstorms: Meteorological Department Issues Sea Area Forecast

Nicosia: The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has issued its forecast for the sea area surrounding Cyprus, covering the period from midday on November 24, 2025, to midday on November 25, 2025. The forecast indicates weak low pressure affecting the region, with frontal activity anticipated to commence this evening. Weather conditions are expected to vary, with partly cloudy skies and isolated showers, along with the risk of thunderstorms, particularly over the northwest and northern areas of Cyprus.

According to Cyprus News Agency, local showers and isolated thunderstorms are predicted to occur tonight and continue into tomorrow morning, initially impacting the western and northern regions before gradually extending to the southern and eastern areas. The visibility is expected to remain good overall but may become moderate to poor during showers. The sea surface temperature is recorded at 23°C, and no warnings have been issued for this period.

The forecast details specific wind patterns and sea conditions for various coastal areas. On the west coast, winds are expected to range from northwest to north at Beaufort scale 4 to 5, maintaining slight to moderate sea conditions throughout the period. Similarly, the south coast will experience winds from northeast to southeast in the afternoon, shifting to west to northwest at night, with sea conditions described as smooth to slight, locally slight. The east coast will see winds from northeast to east in the afternoon, transitioning to west to northwest at night, with slight sea conditions expected. Meanwhile, the north coast will experience northwest to north winds shifting gradually to southwest to northwest, with sea conditions forecasted to be slight to moderate.
