Nicosia: The Cyprus Annual Medical Students Meeting (CAMeSM 2025), hosted by the European University Cyprus (EUC) School of Medicine, brought together more than 250 students from across Europe for a two-day international academic gathering. The event focused on student-led innovation, cross-border collaboration, and hands-on medical training.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the meeting, held on the EUC campus in Nicosia, featured a comprehensive program that blended science, clinical skills, and career development. Professor Elizabeth Johnson, Dean of the EUC School of Medicine, opened the event, highlighting its significance as a platform designed ‘by students, for students.’ The meeting aimed to inspire academic growth, foster international networking, and develop leadership skills in healthcare.
Dr. Popi Kanari, former Minister of Health of Cyprus, delivered a keynote address urging future physicians to prioritize innovation, ethics, and patient-centered care. Participants from universities in Cyprus, Greece, Poland, Romania, and Germany engaged in eight student-led round table discussions on topics ranging from neurosurgery to AI in IVF. The event also included 27 research presentations and 11 interactive workshops, with a hybrid format allowing students from EUC Frankfurt Branch to attend key sessions virtually.
Practical training sessions covered laparoscopic and suturing techniques, ultrasound and ECG interpretation, and a gynecology workshop using a 3D-printed uterus model. Future-focused sessions addressed clinical research, AI in medicine, and leadership development to equip students for the evolving healthcare landscape.
Key event highlights included a “Meet the Expert” career panel, a CV development booth, and a public health fair featuring organizations like the Cyprus Red Cross and Amboss. The meeting concluded with a student-led blood donation drive, underscoring CAMeSM’s dedication to social responsibility.
