Nicosia: The Security and Defence Academy of the Cyprus Ministry of Defence is co-organizing a training program with the UK, in the framework of the Memorandum of Defence Cooperation between the two countries. The program, titled “Strategic Leadership Programme,” commenced on Monday and is set to conclude on January 31, as noted in a Defence Ministry press release issued on Monday evening.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the program is organized in collaboration with the UK High Commission in Cyprus, the UK Defence Academy, and Cranfield University. The primary goal of the program is to prepare senior defence and security officials and officers, equipping them with the necessary tools and skills for strategic decision-making in the broader security and defence sector.
Participants in the seminar include civil and military personnel from various departments such as the Ministries of Defence and Foreign Affairs, the National Guard, the Cyprus Police, the Department of Civil Aviation, the Department of Custom
s, CYCLOPS, and UNFICYP. Additionally, senior diplomats and officers from the Armed Forces of Greece, Israel, Egypt, and the United Kingdom are also in attendance.
The opening ceremony featured welcoming speeches from the Chief of Staff of Defence Minister, Major General Harris Georgiou, and the British High Commissioner to Cyprus, Michael Tatham.
