Cyprus and Lebanon have signed a technical agreement formalizing cooperation between the Cyprus Joint Rescue Coordination Center (JRCC) and its Lebanese counterpart.
The Cyprus JRCC said on Saturday in a press release that the collaboration will include the provision of training programs by the Cyprus JRCC for Lebanese personnel in search and rescue operations. Additionally, the agreement outlines plans for joint search and rescue exercises, as well as the exchange of experiences, expertise, and best practices between the two countries.
As part of this agreement, from July 30 to August 2, 2024, the Cyprus JRCC provided search and rescue training to Lebanese officers and officials at its training center.
The JRCC notes that this technical arrangement, not only strengthens the ties between the Republic of Cyprus and Lebanon but also supports Cyprus’ efforts to become a hub for humanitarian operations in the Eastern Mediterranean region.
