Larnaka: The Cyprus Security and Defence Academy (CSDA) and the Austrian Academy of National Security are set to host a seminar focused on the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP), under the auspices of the European Security and Defence College (ESDC). The seminar is scheduled to take place in Larnaka from November 25 to 29.
According to Cyprus News Agency, this seminar marks the 20th iteration of the CSDP High-Level Course for 2024-2025. Previous courses have been held in Brussels, with upcoming sessions planned for Larnaka, Bucharest, and Lisbon. This edition of the ESDC’s CSDP High-Level Course is named in honor of Portuguese Ambassador José Cutileiro, recognizing his significant contributions to peace, security, and defence within Europe, particularly in the Balkans. Ambassador Cutileiro, who served as the Secretary-General of the Western European Union from 1994 to 1999, played a pivotal role in coordinating European defence and security efforts, which laid the groundwork for the CSDP.
The course
will cover key policies, developments, and trends in the Common Foreign and Security Policy and the CSDP, providing a platform for in-depth discussions on current and emerging issues related to the policy.
Participants expected to attend the seminar include senior civilian officials such as diplomats and police officers, senior military officials from EU Member States, candidate countries, relevant EU institutions, bodies, and agencies, as well as representatives from CSDP missions and operations.
