Cyprus Activates National Plan “Estia” Amid Regional Developments

Nicosia: Cyprus has activated its national plan "Estia" following the latest developments in the region, while its Diplomatic Missions are monitoring the situation, particularly with regard to Cypriot citizens in the region.

According to Cyprus News Agency, a press release issued by the Foreign Ministry stated that the Ministerial Crisis Management Group, which includes Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Defence, Interior, and Justice and Public Order, has decided to activate the plan. This decision comes in anticipation of potentially needing to receive and repatriate third-country citizens from crisis areas through the territory of the Republic of Cyprus.

Simultaneously, Diplomatic Missions are keeping a close watch on the situation, focusing on the safety and status of Cypriot citizens in the affected regions.

"Estia" is the National Action Plan of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, designed to be activated during emergencies or crises. The plan facilitates the safe evacuation of citizens from crisis-stricken areas, particularly from the wider Middle East region, via Cyprus.
