Nicosia: Loizos Vasiliou won the silver medal at the European Karate Championship in the U21 – 84kg category, which took place in Poland.
According to Cyprus News Agency, a press release by the Cyprus Karate Federation stated that Vasiliou secured Cyprus’ first silver medal in the U21 category. The Federation highlighted the high level of competition in this category, noting that many professional athletes who compete in the men’s 18+ category also participate.
To reach the final, Loizos Vasiliou achieved victories on Saturday, February 8, in the U21 – 84kg category, overcoming champions from Estonia, Montenegro, the Netherlands, and France.
The Cyprus Karate Federation remarked on the significance of this accomplishment and recalled that Vasiliou was the first athlete to win a gold medal at the U18 European Championship in 2021 in Finland.
