CUT and Tsientang University Expand Partnership in Digital Cultural Heritage

Limassol:The recent visit of Tsientang University representatives to the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) in Limassol, Cyprus, has led to strengthened cooperation between the two institutions in the field of digital cultural heritage.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the two universities have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance collaboration in academic, scientific, and technological endeavors. This effort focuses on cultural heritage research, digital documentation, conservation, and the development of international standards.

Representatives from Tsientang University, including Prof. Enge Wang and Dr. Zilong Zheng, met with CUT officials such as Prof. Nicolaos Tsapatsulis, Prof. Vangelis, Dr. Athos Agapiou, and Dr. Marinos Ioannides. They discussed joint research opportunities, staff and student exchanges, and the sharing of expertise and resources.

The collaboration highlights the integration of expertise in ancient materials and archaeology from Tsientang University with CUT's strengths in digital cultural heritage. CUT plans to provide scientific expertise, training, and support to enhance digital documentation and preservation efforts.

Both institutions aim to explore advanced technologies like 3D digitization, photogrammetry, and digital reconstruction to document and conserve cultural artifacts. They also plan to share research infrastructure, datasets, and best practices while engaging in joint workshops, conferences, and research proposals.

This partnership seeks to establish a sustainable framework for interdisciplinary cooperation that will benefit both institutions by advancing scientific and technological solutions for cultural heritage preservation.
