Nicosia: European Council President Ant³nio Costa will travel to Nicosia on 4 September for talks with Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides, as part of his ongoing tour of EU capitals. The visit to Nicosia is a significant part of Costa's 'Tour des Capitales,' during which he aims to engage with the leaders of all 27 EU member states.
According to Cyprus News Agency, Costa's tour is focused on discussing the EU's agenda, with a particular emphasis on the bloc's next long-term budget, the Multiannual Financial Framework. This initiative aims to lay the groundwork for upcoming European Council meetings and international summits. In the first week of his tour, Costa visited several capitals, including Bratislava, Tallinn, Vilnius, Riga, and Prague.
The second week of the tour commences on 2 September, with meetings scheduled in Luxembourg and Zagreb, where Costa will meet with Luxembourg's Prime Minister Luc Frieden and Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic. He is also set to visit Budapest for talks with Hungarian Prime Minister P©ter Magyar.
On 3 September, Costa is expected in Bucharest for discussions with Romanian President Nicu?or Dan, followed by meetings in Sofia with Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev, and in Athens with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
In addition to the Nicosia engagement on 4 September, Costa plans to visit Ljubljana to meet Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Jan‚¬Å¡¬¦¡a. His itinerary also includes delivering a keynote address on 'Europe in the World' at the 52nd Ambrosetti Forum on 5 September, an event that has been a significant gathering of political, academic, and business leaders since 1975.
