COSPAR Global Space Symposium Begins in Nicosia

Nicosia: The 6th COSPAR Global Space Symposium, recognized as the world’s most important space research conference for the year 2025, has commenced today in Nicosia. This significant event is hosted by the Cyprus Space Exploration Organisation (CSEO) in collaboration with the International Committee on Space Research (COSPAR) and is set to take place from November 3rd to 7th.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the Symposium will see participation from representatives of NASA, ESA, and all major space-faring nations and space agencies. It will also welcome astronauts and numerous distinguished guests from Cyprus and the international community. Among the attendees are Ambassadors from several countries, including France, Germany, Japan, India, Israel, Poland, and Hungary, as highlighted by CSEO.

CSEO President George Danos conveyed to CNA that this Symposium is a landmark event for 2025, signifying Cyprus’s emergence at the center of the global space community. The event, titled ‘Space Exploration 2025: A Symposium on Humanity’s Challenges and Celestial Solutions’, aims to tackle critical global issues such as climate change, resource depletion, and space weather by exploring solutions offered by space exploration and technology.

COSPAR states that the Symposium will address ongoing and planned space programs, encouraging discussions on international collaboration, responsible space endeavors, and the involvement of emerging nations in space exploration. It is anticipated to attract a wide audience, including representatives from space and non-space companies, space agencies, international organizations, researchers, and the general public.

The Global Symposium is held under the auspices of the Chief Scientist of Cyprus, Demetris Skourides, with CNA serving as the media sponsor of the event.
