Consumers and Businesses Report Satisfaction During Festive Market Period

NICOSIA: Consumers and businesses in Cyprus have reported a positive experience with the festive market, noting robust activity and satisfactory sales levels during the holiday shopping period.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the President of the Cyprus Consumers Association, Marios Droushiotis, expressed contentment with the market’s performance. Droushiotis noted that the level of business activity exceeded his expectations, with consumers actively purchasing goods from both malls and street shops. He highlighted that the association observed customers leaving stores with purchases, indicating healthy consumer engagement.

Droushiotis also addressed consumer complaints, mentioning that only three instances were reported, all related to delays in online gift purchases. He advised consumers to be mindful of extended delivery times during the Christmas season due to increased demand.

Adamos Hadjiadamou, Executive Secretary of the Cyprus Supermarkets Association, echoed this sentiment of satisfaction. He praised supermarkets for their efforts, which included special offers, diverse product selections, and strategic pricing to absorb price increases when possible. While specific sales figures are yet to be released, Hadjiadamou estimated that supermarket turnover matched or surpassed last year’s levels.
