NICOSIA: Consumers and businesses in Cyprus have reported high levels of satisfaction with the shopping experience during the recent festive period. This positive sentiment was shared by both consumer groups and business associations, reflecting a successful holiday season for the market.
According to Cyprus News Agency, Marios Droushiotis, President of the Cyprus Consumers Association, expressed his pleasure with the market’s performance. “We are pleased with the market. To be honest, I expected less business than what we have seen, and that is pleasing,” he said. Observations from the association indicated that shoppers were actively making purchases, as evidenced by the number of consumers leaving both malls and street shops with bags in hand.
In terms of consumer complaints, Droushiotis noted that there were only three grievances related to online gift purchases that did not arrive on time. He emphasized that consumers should account for extended delivery times during the Christmas period due to increased demand.
Adamos Hadjiadamou, Executive Secretary of the Cyprus Supermarkets Association, echoed similar sentiments regarding the festive shopping period. He stated, “We are completely satisfied,” and highlighted the efforts made by supermarkets to enhance the shopping experience. These efforts included special offers, a diverse selection of products, and price comparisons to absorb any potential price increases. Although specific sales data is yet to be released, Hadjiadamou estimated that supermarket turnover was at least on par with last year’s figures.
