Nicosia: The Price Index of Construction Materials for August 2026 reached 123.09 units, marking a 3.39% rise compared to the same month of the previous year, as indicated by data released by the Statistical Service on Friday.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the increase in the index was notably driven by rises in several key commodity categories. Electromechanical products experienced a 3.58% rise, while minerals and mineral products increased by 2.67% and 1.35%, respectively.
In contrast, the only decline noted in the index was in heating and cooling equipment, which fell by 1.67% compared to last August. A minor increase of 0.07% was also recorded in August 2026 when compared to the previous month.
The overall index for the period from January to August 2026 showed a 2.06% increase compared to the same period in 2025, reflecting the ongoing upward trend in construction material costs.
