CMMI and NIMRD Forge Partnership for Marine Research and Innovation.

LARNACA: The Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute (CMMI) and the Institutul National de Cercetare-Dezvoltare Marina Grigore Antipa (NIMRD) of Romania have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance cooperation on significant research areas including aquaculture, marine observation, climate change impacts, and the reduction of marine pollution. This collaborative agreement was signed on Wednesday at the CMMI premises in Larnaca by Zacharias Siokouros, Managing Director of CMMI, and Dr. Florin Timofte, Director General of NIMRD, with researchers from marine and maritime sciences in attendance.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the agreement is a pivotal step in bolstering collaboration in the arenas of marine and maritime research, innovation, and development. The Memorandum of Understanding aims to further the shared vision of CMMI and NIMRD to fortify research and innovation in marine science, focusing particularly on areas vital for sustainable development and ocean health.

that through this agreement, CMMI and NIMRD will engage in joint projects that address crucial research areas such as aquaculture, marine observation, climate change impacts, and marine pollution reduction. The collaboration is set to not only reaffirm the commitment of both institutes to innovation and sustainable development but also to strengthen regional and international cooperation on significant maritime issues.
