Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades had a bilateral meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi in Brussels, on the margins of the European Union – African Union Summit, during which they discussed climate change and energy matters, according to a tweet published on his official account on Friday.
During the meeting, which took place in the offices of the Cypriot representation in the Council building, the two President discussed a series of issues, including climate change and energy, making a special reference to the EuroAfricaInterconnector project, which is meant to connect the electricity grid of Cyprus with that of Egypt.
The project could potentially connect Egypt, through Cyprus, with the electricity grid of the rest of the European Union, after Cyprus is connected with Greece through the planned EuroAsiaInterconnector.
