Nicosia: Locals and visitors have the opportunity to discover eight villages and towns around Cyprus that host Christmas cultural events this year, and taste local specialties, among other things. Agros, Deryneia, Fikardou, Kakopetria, Kalopanagiotis, Kyperounta, Lefkara, and Statos-Agios Fotios organize Christmas villages this year that are running until January 6, 2026.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the 'Santa's vineyard' Christmas events in Statos-Agios Fotios spotlight the village's wine-making tradition, as noted by Community Council Leader, Michalis Kimonos. Vineyards, he emphasized, are the area's 'heritage,' symbolizing the effort, patience, and struggle of the people of the region. Kimonos further stated that organizing these Christmas village events enhances winter tourism and offers a chance for visitors to familiarize themselves with the mountainous Paphos area.
These events are part of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism's annual Christmas Villages scheme. The Deputy Ministry encourages everyone to explore the eight traditional villages and towns of Cyprus, which feature Christmas Villages with cultural events, stands selling local products and handicrafts, gastronomy and craft workshops, nature activities, and village tours, among other attractions.
The Christmas Villages will remain open to visitors until January 6, 2026.
