Children’s health benefits by Shriners doctors’ contribution, Minister says

Health Minister Michalis Damianos has noted that the contribution of doctors from Shriners Children’s hospitals in Cyprus benefits the health of children in the country and thanked the medical professionals and their institution for operating on children with orthopaedic problems.

The team of Shriners doctors are in Cyprus this week for the second year running. They are set to perform seven operations and provide their expertise in consultations for children in Cyprus and the broader region.

Damianos thanked the doctors and their institution noting that what is taking place “is very important for our country.”

On behalf of the George and Thelma Paraskevaides Foundation, where consultations take place, its executive director Costas Paraskevaides thanked Makarios hospital where the operations are taking place and expressed the hope that this cooperation will continue in future so that more children can benefit.

Shriners hospital executive vice president John McKay commended the cooperation between the two
sides for the benefit of children’s health in Cyprus and the broader region, adding that Shriners hospital has been taking part in such projects for over 100 years in various regions around the world.
