Calm Seas Forecasted for Cyprus Ahead of High Pressure Influence

Nicosia: The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has issued a forecast for the sea area surrounding Cyprus, predicting mainly fine weather conditions. The forecast covers an 8-kilometer stretch seawards, highlighting that a weak high-pressure system is currently influencing the region. The atmospheric pressure at the time of the report was recorded at 1021 hPa.

According to Cyprus News Agency, visibility in the area is expected to remain good, with sea surface temperatures consistent at 19°C. No warnings have been issued for the forecast period, suggesting stable and calm sea conditions across different coastal areas.

The forecast details specific wind patterns and sea states for each coast. On the West Coast, winds are anticipated to range from Northeast to East at Beaufort scale 3 during the night, shifting to Northeast to Southeast and later to Southwest to Northwest throughout the day, with sea conditions described as smooth to slight.

For the South Coast, winds will vary from Northwest to Northeast at night, moving to Northeast to East by morning and afternoon. The state of the sea will remain smooth to slight, though slightly more pronounced locally.

Similar conditions are expected along the East Coast, with winds from North to Northeast at night and transitioning to Northeast by afternoon. The sea state will be slight, with occasional local variations.

On the North Coast, night-time winds will blow from Northeast to Southeast, with offshore winds reaching a slightly higher intensity. During the day, conditions will remain smooth to slight, with some local increases in intensity.

The forecast, issued at 1700 local time, provides a detailed outlook for mariners and coastal activities, ensuring preparedness for the upcoming weather conditions.
