Calm Conditions Expected in Cyprus Sea Area Amid Weak High Pressure

Nicosia: The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has released a forecast for the sea area surrounding Cyprus, indicating predominantly fine weather conditions due to the presence of weak high pressure. The atmospheric pressure at the time of the forecast issue is recorded at 1023hPa, with the overall sea surface temperature steady at 21°C. Visibility is noted to be good across the region, with no warnings issued for the period starting from 1800 on December 17, 2025, until 1800 on December 18, 2025.

According to Cyprus News Agency, specific wind patterns and sea states are expected to vary slightly across different coastal areas. On the west coast, nighttime winds will be from the northwest to northeast at force 3, occasionally reaching 3 to 4. The state of the sea is predicted to be smooth to slight, locally becoming slight. By morning, winds are anticipated to shift to northwest at force 3 to 4, sometimes reaching force 4, with the sea remaining slight. In the afternoon, a west to northwest wind at force 4, occasionally reaching 4 to 5, will persist, maintaining a slight sea state.

The south coast is expected to experience northwest winds at force 3 to 4 during the night, occasionally reaching force 4 offshore, with a slight sea state. Morning conditions will see similar wind patterns, while in the afternoon, winds are expected to shift to southwest at force 4, gradually reaching 4 to 5 offshore, with the sea remaining slight.

For the east coast, nighttime winds are predicted from northwest to north at force 3 to 4, occasionally reaching force 4 offshore, with a slight sea state. Morning conditions will see winds shifting west to northwest at force 3 to 4, sometimes reaching force 4 offshore, while in the afternoon, winds will change to southwest to west at force 4, with the sea staying slight.

On the north coast, nighttime winds will blow from northwest to northeast at force 3, occasionally reaching 3 to 4, with a slight sea state. Morning conditions will see winds from west to northwest at force 3 to 4, sometimes reaching force 4, while in the afternoon, west to northwest winds at force 4, occasionally reaching 4 to 5, are expected, maintaining a slight sea state.
