Cabinet Approves Scheme for Technological and Digital Upgrading of Cultural Agencies

Nicosia: The Council of Ministers has given the green light to a new scheme aimed at the technological and digital enhancement of cultural agencies. This initiative, designed by the Deputy Ministry of Culture, seeks to integrate digital technology into cultural organizations, fostering innovative artistic expression, improving audience experience, and ensuring inclusivity for people with disabilities.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the scheme will be managed by the Department of Contemporary Culture over a period of three years, from 2025 to 2027, with a potential extension based on its success. The initiative includes funding for the acquisition of specialized equipment and software, whether commercially available or custom-developed, alongside other technological and digital upgrade expenses not directly related to IT systems.

The Deputy Ministry has outlined that eligible cultural organizations can receive grants covering 85% of their total expenditure, capped at £30,000 excluding VAT. Detailed guideli
nes on eligible expenses and equipment will be provided in the official scheme announcement. The program is set to launch in September 2025, with application submissions closing by the end of October 2025.
