Cabinet Approves National Blood Strategy to Enhance Blood Services in Cyprus

Nicosia:The Council of Ministers in Cyprus has approved a new National Blood Strategy aimed at modernizing and upgrading the country's blood services system.

According to Cyprus News Agency, Health Minister Neophytos Charalambides stated that the strategy will lead to the creation of a modern, digitalized, and resilient system. This system is designed to ensure the adequacy, quality, and safety of blood and its derivatives, aligning with European and international standards.

The goals of the strategy include managing blood stocks and needs, organizing services, ensuring quality and supervision, and achieving innovation and digitalization. Furthermore, the strategy seeks to strengthen voluntary blood donation, promote the rational use of blood, and ensure timely and equal access for all patients to the blood they require.

To ensure the effective implementation of the strategy, an Implementation Monitoring Committee will be established. This committee will evaluate the progress and effectiveness of the actions, identify any difficulties in a timely manner, and contribute to addressing them.
