Nicosia: Bureau of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) convenes in Nicosia ahead of the Cyprus EU Presidency which begins January 1st. The meeting kicked off on Tuesday and wraps up today. Yesterday there was a parallel meeting of three working groups.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the 743rd meeting of the EESC Bureau will take place at the Presidential Palace. The agenda includes a speech by EESC President Seamus Boland to be followed by a speech by the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides.
Deputy Minister for European Affairs, Marilena Raouna, will present the priorities of the Cyprus Presidency and a Plenary Conference will follow on ‘Water Scarcity and Preparedness’. The EESC will prepare 14 opinions on behalf of the incoming Cyprus Presidency, on priority issues highlighted by both sides.
