Nicosia: A total of 61 bounced cheques worth pound 156,564 were recorded in the first three months of 2025, marking a 35% increase in value compared to the same period in 2024.
According to Cyprus News Agency, data published by the Central Bank of Cyprus revealed that in the first quarter of 2024, 76 cheques worth pound 115,375 had been issued.
During the first three months of 2025, 24 persons were listed in the Central Information Registry (CIR). This list included 9 legal entities, 9 natural persons, and 6 natural persons controlling legal entities.
In March 2025 alone, 11 bounced cheques worth pound 72,009 were issued. Additionally, 9 persons, comprising 8 legal entities and 1 natural person, were listed in the preliminary registry. Moreover, in March, 6 persons were registered in the CIR, which included 3 legal entities, 1 natural person, and 2 natural persons controlling legal entities.
